Starting . . .

I've always wanted to blog about the realities of starting a startup. But every time I have been involved in one, I never quite got around to it during the controlled chaos that is a startup.

No more.

Even though I am working in a business that we started three years ago, I just couldn't help myself and now I am in the early chaos of yet another startup. I'm going to describe this one, if for no other purpose than to give me a diary of events and thoughts while giving life where there was none.

I won't bore you with an advertisement for old or new. But I want to describe our process, which must necessarily be unique to this particular experience.

I, and my two partners, are not business experts. Two of us are technologists each with over twenty years experience in the technology world. Our third partner currently shares ownership in another related business. We have started several business during our careers, some of which have sold for several millions of dollars. We are not independently wealthy, but would rather create and innovate as a way to make a living.

While this might sound a little cryptic, I want this column to not about me, or us, but about a process. Maybe this column will be of value to you. It certainly will be of value to us.
